CRIES & SHADOWS aka The Exorcist III

(Franco Lo Cascio & Angelo Pannaccio, 1975)

Here we have the only Exorcist clone to feature a possessed male, and therefore male frontal nudity. I'll keep the review of this no-budget laughingstock brief as it's not a very exciting title...unless you have a thing for really tight polyester and bad mullets coupled with bad acting and even worse effects.

While in the woods, young Peter (possessed of the tightest pants in Italo horror history - how fitting a name!) spies a nude, pallid redhead, so he takes her picture. He soon sees her everywhere (she must be the Devil!) and starts to behave strangely. Sadly, his demonic aggression doesn't stray far from spilling champagne on someone's dress, hurling a bunch of lame insults, and making his bed spin in circles.

After his mother is pushed down the stairs, his sister, Sister Elena (haw!) shows up. A priest tells her that he attacked another nun and had to be tied to his bed, and committed to a psychiatric hospital, an idea that doesn't sit too well with her as she describes them as "Hell on Earth". Cue wonky industrial music and a montage a "crazies" running about, beating each other, and pulling their hair. Ok, I have to admit I've been to the ward a few times, and I WISH it was that much fun! She then brings in a priest, has Peter exorcised, and throws herself off a cliff. The end. There's not a whole lot going on here. No original ideas...well, having a male possessed... but he isn't very frightening or a very good actor. I'm pretty sure the "directors" created this mess for the sole purpose of filming him naked! Not recommended unless you've seen just about everything else.
